An ambitious team are giving themselves 48 hours to put on a play at the Loft Theatre in Leamington.

Made in 48 Hours will stage There’s No Place Like Home on Sunday August 14 at 7.30pm.

They will be attempting the seemingly impossible – learning lines, rehearsing moves, finding costumes, putting up the set and delivering a rip-roaring comedy all in just two days.

The story focuses on two well-known characters, Alice and Dorothy, girls who both wear blue dresses, trying to find their way home.

But things become complicated when, due to an over-enthusiastic tornado, Alice and Dorothy end up confused in each other’s stories.

Those with a nose for on-the-edge drama are in for another evening of entertainment as the company try to make it through the play without forgetting their lines or falling over the set.

It will be directed by Sam Harris, one of the founders of Made in 48 Hours, who has been organising these productions on an annual basis for the past 17 years.

She Harris said: “We started out with just a combined cast and crew of ten and it’s wonderful that we’re not only still going but also to see how much we’ve grown over the years.”

“I have never been able to work out how the cast manage to learn their lines so quickly. It’s amazing what you can retain. But sometimes people forget things and we have to get out of it which always seems to give the audience a good laugh.

“It’s great fun. We are so excited to be welcomed to the Loft Theatre this year and are extremely grateful for their help and support.”

As always the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to charity, and this year’s show will be in aid of Side by Side Theatre Company.

Tickets cost £10. They are available on the door, by visiting loft-theatre.co.uk or by calling 0844 493 4938.
