Will St George slay his reptilian opponent?

There’s a chance to celebrate St George with two days of the best of British fun at
Kenilworth Castle.

With hands on fun-and-games, a medieval village setting up camp in the castle grounds, and the chance to see England’s patron saint’s great battle spring to life, it promises to be a historic day out.

Resplendent in shining armour, brave knight St George will do battle with the fearsome dragon in entertaining shows at the heart of the weekend. Visitors can also discover the traditional tale of St George, patron saint of both England and soldiers, and take the chance to meet the great man himself alongside his reptilian rival.

Alongside the legendary showdown, the whole family can get hands on with a packed programme of medieval merriment. Young heroes can hone their skills with spear, sword and shield training, test their knightly credentials with junior jousting, and challenge the family to a game or two of three man’s morris, trip trop, and a feast of other medieval games.

The celebrations continue around the grounds as medieval Kenilworth springs to life with a bustling living history encampment amidst the castle ruins. Visitors can meet a cast of colourful characters, all taking a break from their usual toils to enjoy the celebrations of the feast of Saint George.

The St George’s Day Celebrations take place from 11am to 5pm on Saturday April 23 and Sunday April 24.

Entry to the event and castle are included in the ticket price of £29.60 for a family, £11.40 for adults, and £6.80 for children. Reduced prices apply for English Heritage Members. Call 0370 333 1183 to book tickets.
