Jazz is making a comeback and bringing it to Leamington on Sunday is the Five Star Swing band.
Their stage show at the Royal Spa Centre on Sunday promises a host of classic Big Band and Swing songs from artists such as Frank Sinatra, Glenn Miller and Jools Holland.

Five Star Swing is lead by former Ivy Benson musician Simone Smith and her husband Chris, from the band of Glenn Miller's Brother, Herb.

Simone sings and plays lead alto saxophone in the band and has played with artists such as Paul Weller, John Williams and the Ivy Benson Show Band.

She has also performed a Saxophone solo on Paul Merton's TV show.

Trumpet player, pianist and singer, Chris is well known in the jazz world for his arrangements and compositions frequently played on Jazz FM and BBC Radio 2. He has performed on Top of the Pops and in the Michael Caine film Silver Bears. Accomplished Leamington double bass player Adrian Litvinoff will also be appearing in the show.

Chris said: "It's great that there's a strong resurgence in jazz and swing music enjoyed by all generations, mainly thanks to artists such as Robbie Williams and Jamie Cullum. One of my favourite songs is Mr Bojangles by Sammy Davis Jnr. I've been brought up with this style of music as my father played trombone with Frank Sinatra on his European tours.

"We're looking forward to bringing some classic swing music back to town."
