Former professional ballet dancer Diane van der Westhuizen is helping people get fit and mentally healthy at classes held in Southam.
Diane, who is also a qualified psychologist, has been running the Chance to Dance classes at the Grange Hall in Coventry Road on each Monday since April.
The classes are kept small and personal and include seminars on psychological well-being, nutrition and lifestyle management.
Diane said: "Exploring the world of dance helps people to become grounded, centred and energised with long term psychological benefits.
"The classes have meditative and therapeutic purposes, which help reduce social anxiety and promote general well-being and happiness.
"My pupils are already feeling the benefits of being extremely calm and getting their bodies into shape while socialising and having fun."
Other benefits of the classes include acquiring new movement skills, achieving an elegant body shape and improving bone density.
Diane was classically trained in ballet in Cape Town, South Africa, and has a masters degree in sport and exercise psychology. She came to England seven years ago and currently works in Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust's adult mental health services, specialising in trauma and post traumatic stress syndrome.
