The Pacesetters German Shepherd Dog Display Team will demonstrating their discipline, agility and courage, while a Gun Dog Display by the lake show the remarkable relationship working dogs have with their owners.

Taking a lead from Compton Verney’s popular 1950s exhibition, currently in display, canine companions can watch their humans enjoy playing vintage games galore, such as Hoopla, Striker, Buzz Wire, Tin Can Alley, Splat the Rat and Hook a Duck.

There will also be an animation workshop and free advice on the best welfare for your best friend courtesy of Avonvale Veterinary
 Centres.

The fun gets underway on Sunday August 21 from 12 noon.

Organiser Caroline Leverton said: “It’s been great fun putting together our packed programme of canine capers, so we can’t wait to welcome our four-legged friends.

“There’s a best Child Handler competition from midday, so make sure you arrive in time for your kids to take part in that. Plus we have a Best Looking Family of Dogs class, which is ideal for families with two or more pets. I’m really looking forward to seeing the Guide Dogs for the Blind demonstration and learning how they select a puppy and then take it all the way through training to become a life-companion for someone who is sight-impaired.”

Caroline added: “All that running and possibly rolling around with your dog will work up a thirst and appetite, so we have a Pimms and real ale tent, plus a barbecue.”
