Warwick in the medals at World Championships

There were more than 2,000 entries, representing over 20 countries and instructor Dave Oliver admitted it was “a fantastic achievement” for the club to pick up so many medals at such a major event.

Cassie Oury won gold in black belt patterns and missed out on the double by just a point in the musical patterns, settling for a silver.

Zach Ashlee-Timms claimed gold in patterns and bronze in the boys’ green belt division, losing to the eventual winner in the semi-final having come through four rounds.

There was a surprise gold for Joanne Kirk in the blue belt ladies’ sparring after she missed her weight category and had to fight in the weight above.

Jordan Gardner won triple bronze in patterns, sparring and team sparring in the boys’ green belt division, while Chloe Bevan claimed bronze in the ladies’ black belt patterns and Beccy Jones came away with bronze in the executive ladies’ black belt sparring.
