Kenilworth get Hughes on hire from Wasps

Kenilworth Under-14s had an extra special end-of-season training session on Sunday under the guidance of Wasps number eight Nathan Hughes.

The session was arranged by Jim Longstaff, chairman of Clements Plant & Tool Hire, whose son Daniel is a squad member.

“Nathan is a customer of Clements and when asked, he very generously provided his time and expertise to help the lads out,” said Longstaff.

When questioned about his involvement, the 24-year-old said he was happy to put something back into the community.

“When Jim asked me I thought it was a great idea,” said Hughes. “We did some passing and tackling drills and the guys really enjoyed it.

“The coaches also benefitted from me being there and I’ll make a point of following their progress next season and hopefully they’ll be able to take some positives from the session.

“The key is that they enjoy the game and that is what it is all about.”

Training ended with Q&As, but when Fiji-born Hughes was asked about being eligible to play for England later this year, he neatly side-stepped the question with a big smile.
