Ryton’s Richard Gozdecki claimed two major titles in two weeks to confirm himself as the world’s leading natural bodybuilder.
Gozdecki, who works as an inspector at Rolls-Royce Aerospace, went head to head with professionals at the SNBF European Pro Cup in Zurich and came away with the Multipower Pro Cup.
A week later he defended his WNBF World title in Atlantic City, US, beating off the challenge of 11 other heavyweight professionals.
Gozdecki, who undergoes urine testing and extensive polygraphing at each event to prove his natural bodybuilding status, also claimed a bronze medal at the British Indoor Rowing Championships in Nottingham earlier this year.
And, as the 30-year-old prepares to return to training after a period of rest, he says it will be a year he will long remember.
He said: “I finally feel satisfied from a sport which makes you question yourself at every turn.”
