Leamington recurve archer Naomi Folkard stepped up her Olympic preparations with a full house of trophies at the UK Masters event at the Lilleshall National Sports Centre in Shropshire.

The competition was held over two days, with a FITA 70m for recurves followed by a head to head knockout competition and a 12 dozen arrow FITA on Sunday.

For each of the three elements of the event, archers were given points according to their finishing position, with the winner being the archer with the fewest number of points.

In cold, wet and windy conditions, Folkard maintained the form which won her a silver medal at the European Championships in Holland.

Folkard scored 662 for the FITA 70m, an average of 9.1 per arrow, and just one point off her own national record. This put her 48 points ahead of second-placed Jeanetta Braun (Brent Valley).

The 28-year-old then stormed through the knockout stages before beating Cherry Lyne 6-2 in the gold medal match. In the traditional 12 dozen arrow FITA round over four distances, she finished on 1,283 points, well clear of nearest challengers Lyne (1,217) and Braun (1,168), sealing the UK Masters trophy in the process.

In addition to lifting the Ogden trophy for the overall winner, Folkard claimed all four distance trophies together with the long metric trophy.
