The first swimming gala of 2013 saw Leamington ASC clock up 53 personal bests at the Crystal Open, where winners of the overall age categories are awarded with a coveted crystal goblet.

Teigan Parker’s superb performance saw the 12-year-old take home a trio of sparkling goblets for the 50m breaststroke, 200m freestyle and 200m backstroke before finishing with a bronze in the 50m butterfly.

Georgia Kidd had a storming gala, first slashing five seconds off her 200m breaststroke time before producing another great PB in the 200m freestyle to secure the gold in 2min 21.4sec.

Great swimming in both the 100m freestyle and 200m individual medley earned Kidd two silvers, with the 13-year-old narrowly missing gold in both by less than a tenth of a second. A final burst in the 100m breaststroke saw Kidd snatch a third place.

For the 11-year-olds, Aran Shuttlewood’s strong swimming generated a new personal best in the 50m breaststroke, netting him first place alongside a hat-trick of silvers in the 200m individual medley, 200m breaststroke and 50m freestyle.

Megan Stanton took home an array of trophies with gold in the 50m backstroke, silver in the 200m backstroke and bronze in the 200m individual medley, while Mollie Dibb picked up second place in the 50m butterfly in 36:56.

Lily O’Brien, 12, claimed gold in the 200m butterfly while in the 50m events Luke Williams, 12, sprinted into third place in the breaststroke and freestyle races.

There were further third places for ten-year-olds Abby Jolley and James MacKenzie in the backstroke races, with MacKenzie also producing a storming 50m freestyle of 34:61.
