Taundry joins Lee Moore, Joe Magunda, James Mace, Connor Gudger and Jack Edwards in agreeing to stay at the New Windmill and is a timely boost for manager Paul Holleran in the wake of the club’s relegation back to the Southern Premier League.

With Ben Mackey and Tony Breeden having also agreed to return to the club, Leamington’s ranks were further boosted with the signing of Coventry-born striker Rob Ogleby.

The 23-year-old, who has been capped 12 times at under-21 level for Wales, spent a spell at Nuneaton Town last season having joined from Livingston.

He had previously made more than 50 appearances for Wrexham, scoring 12 goals and has also spent time north of the border with East Fife and Hearts.

However, Holleran is hoping a return to his roots will allow him to replicate the success of outgoing striker Danny Newton.

“Rob has a very similar kind of pedigree to a number of other players we have signed in that he is a local boy,” said Holleran.

“He’s young and he has followed his full-time dream for a while which has taken him all round the country.

“In spells he has done really well but he has come back locally to live.

“I think he’s had a similar issue to players like Danny Newton where he struggled to get a good run of games at his previous clubs before he came here.

“If a player can get a run of games it builds their profile and that’s what Rob wants to do.

“He wants to knuckle down, work hard and get games under his belt.

“All the ingredients are there - he’s a good size, he’s quick and as I said, has done well in spells so it’s all about him getting that consistency now.”
