However, his delight at securing the services of the former Wolves professional was tinged with disappointment after fellow hot prospect Jordan Goddard signalled his intent to leave the New Windmill.

Goddard is set to remain in the rebranded National League North after moving to AFC Telford for a nominal fee and Holleran said it was clear early on he was fighting a losing battle to keep hold of the midfielder.

“They’re both young lads, are the right age and in patches both did well last year.

“Jordan caught the eye and scored some wonderful goals for us but the early indications were quite clear and he feels the best thing for him is to stop at that level.

“It looks like he is going to Telford and they’re one of the biggest clubs around here so it’s a decent opportunity for him.

“There was a little bit of interest in Jamie, too.

“But he feels the way forward for him is at Leamington.

“It was a big learning curve for him last year but he learnt a lot.

“Hopefully, he can continue to blossom. He’s 21, a good size, reads the game well and is a local lad, too.

“I’m delighted he’s staying with us and I think he can go again.”

Meanwhile, Bilal Yafai and Nathan Hicks have not been offered re-engagement terms.
