RACING Club boss Tony Clarke says he will not compromise on his footballing principles despite seeing his side slump to their sixth successive Midlands Combination Premier Division defeat.

The loss leaves Racing Club stranded at the foot of the table but Clarke says with hard work and belief the results will eventually come.

“At new year, my staff and I had a good chat with the players and demanded commitment on and off the pitch,” said Clarke.

“I am sticking to the way I want to play and the lads are trying their best to implement that in every
way.

“I have never been a kick and rush player and I’ll not expect any team I’m involved with to play that way.

“We have played the top teams this season and more than matched them on the day.

“We are just a few players short in certain areas and I’m doing my very best to get players in ASAP to rectify our issues at the back and up front.”

Goals from Fabian Spence and Daniel Fraser in the opening two minutes of the first and second half wrapped up the three points for Copsewood, with Eli Jones coming closest to scoring for the hosts only to be denied by the flailing leg of keeper Scott Furlong.

Clarke said his side had again been punished for switching off defensively, but said the remedy was not a difficult one.

“It was a lack of experience in dealing with situations that cost us,” he said.

“All you need sometimes is to get it out of your third and get them turned in theirs, re-group and get your shape.”

Racing Club now face a spell away from league action with no game tomorrow and a Coventry Evening Telegraph Cup clash against Brinklow the following Saturday.
