The home side, who play in the West Midlands (Regional) League, Premier Division, started brightly and controlled possession before going ahead on 25 minutes when a well flighted corner from Dean Craven was headed in by fellow midfielder Matt Catley.

But the Phoenix Park outfit’s play was soon hampered when Craven limped off and his midfield partner Tom Bradley was also taken off with an ankle injury after Racers’ Harry Jarvis brought him down and was booked for the tackle.

Racers started to make Shifnal’s injury woes show in the second half and poured forward repeatedly with only their finishing letting them down.

They did, however, get their just rewards on 75 minutes when a failed clearance by the Shifnal defence fell to Ryan Langmead, who swept home from close range to put Racing back on level terms.

The hosts were now desperately hanging on but somehow managed to grab a shock late winner.

Clayton Johnson broke from midfield, before slipping in Curtis Smith to lift the ball over the advancing Conal Dowling.

Despite a last-ditch effort, Warwick were unable to find an equaliser and went down 2-1.
