Brakes buzzing for big test at in-form Barrow

Paul Holleran has said his Brakes side will go into one of their toughest fixtures of the season full of confidence after back to back wins in their last two games.

Leamington bounced back from the shock of going down 3-0 at home to Colwyn Bay with a deserved 1-0 win at Stalybridge Celtic on Saturday and a thumping 4-1 victory over Gloucester City at the New Windmill on Tuesday evening which saw them leap up to sixth place in the Conference North table.

And it was the manner in which Brakes picked up the points, which has the Brakes manager in a good spirits.

“Both performances were pretty similar. We played with a good tempo and created a lot of chances in both games,” said Holleran.

“The Stalybridge game was a great away performance in terms of how we absorbed any pressure and then counter attacked with pace.

“And we followed that up with a great game against Gloucester. There was a good midweek crowd and a lot of sponsors at the ground and it was good for the fans.

“We scored four and created one or two other chances but they played their part as well and it could’ve ended up 7-3.”

Holleran praised Tuesday’s hat-trick hero Stefan Moore, who took his tally to six for the season.

He said: “Stef is somebody who has got that little bit extra and when there’s a smile on his face he’s at his most dangerous.”

Brakes face form side Barrow away on Saturday before hosting Harrogate Town on September 20.

Holleran said: “We’re into double figures for points and we’ve made a solid start.

“The signs are positive and there’s a lot of energy in the team.

“We’ll go into both of those games full of confidence.”
