The 21-year-old turned out at right-back for Brakes in a friendly at Stratford Town last summer after his release from the Bescot Stadium and went on to feature in more than 20 games for Rugby Town last season.

“Last season probably didn’t turn out as he would have liked,” said Holleran of the Birmingham-born defender.

“But I think he will be an asset to us as he can operate in a number of positions in defence or midfield.

“Ben just needs to come and get himself focused and fit, have a good, settled pre-season with us and kick on from there really.”

George is the fourth new addition of the summer after Tony Breeden, Rob Ogleby, Ben Mackey and with several key members of last season’s squad having pledged to stay at the New Windmill and talks still ongoing with Jamie Tank and Jordan Goddard, Holleran is happy with the way the summer is panning out.

“My main concern was to get an established goalkeeper,” he said. “And with Ben back in the fold, Ben George and Rob we’ve got a bit of quality, experience, youth and legs.”
