Folkard said: “It’s really exciting to have won a spot for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, it makes the tough journey over the last four years worthwhile. I now have a few weeks to do my final preparation, so I can go with the confidence to perform to the best of my ability.

“This will be my fourth Games and competing in the Sambódromo arena will be a similar experience to my first Games in the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens. I’m looking forward to fighting for a medal.”
