For 88 minutes of a pulsating cup final I thought luck was again going to desert Brakes.
However once Avun Jephcott hit a deserved equaliser, I knew our name must be on the cup!
The game was a fantastic advert for the Midlance Alliance, but also for non-league football in general. Two teams gave there all, with great grit and determination, roardd on by a partisan Leamington crowd that never stopped cheering the team all night. What a roar went up when Avun hit the net - unbelievable.
A banner at the end of the game said "Sack Cadzy", certainly very tongue-in-cheek - for a man who deserves great credit in bringing the glory days back to our great football team, even though at times elements of the fans feel the need to criticise him. ]
I suppose that's sport though and we all have our opinions, which we should be entitled to. All I can say is well done Cadzy!!!!
Finally, thank you to all the players for giving your all this season, a unique double winning achievement. You did yourself and the fans proud.
Perhaps my final word should be to the local council. Please, please, help our community football club move forward and grant us the development plans we so desperately need to make this club an ever better one.
In doing so, putting the name of Leamington FC firmly back on the map of football once again. I am a proud Brakes fan of 30 years.
From: Nigel Murray, Leamington.
