More than 250 acres of open countryside across the district could be earmarked for new homes and businesses in the next few months.
But Warwick District Council is giving residents a chance to have their say on its plans first.

The government wants three million new homes to be built in the country between now and 2026 and more land designated for business use.

As part of this nation-wide development, the district council has been asked to allocate around 86 acres of land for new employment and enough land for 10,800 homes.

This is what I think

Some of this has already been found, and planners think there is room for a further 8,150 properties "within our towns on brown field sites".

But green field sites - previously undeveloped land - will still be needed for around 2,700 new homes and up to 37 acres of businesses.

Public consultation exhibitions outlining the options will be held:

Friday May 16, 10am to 4pm, at Warwick Direct in Warwick town centre.

Saturday May 17, 10am to 4pm, at the Royal Priors in Leamington.

Wednesday May 22, 10am to 4pm, at Warwickshire Direct in Whitnash.

Wednesday May 29, 10am to 4pm, at Warwickshire Direct in Kenilworth.

Friday June 6, 10am to 7pm, at Tesco in Emscote Road, Warwick.

Friday June 20, 10am to 7pm, at Cannon Park Shopping Centre, Coventry.
