Pro-golfer Andy Hicks will play three 18-hole rounds and walk 30 miles in one day in memory of two friends who died young.
The 24-year-old, of Newbold Comyn Golf Club, is raising money for the Willow Foundation in honour of Simon Biggs and Sunny Dhillon.

He will tee off at Newbold Comyn at 5am on Thursday, complete the course, walk to The Warwickshire in Leek Wootton and play 18 holes before walking back to the first course to finish another round.

Mr Hicks said: "I remember Simon caddying for me and always coming up with advice.

"If I missed a putt, rather than encouraging me he would always say 'should've holed that'.

"But it was just his jovial way to cheer me up – that was Biggsy through and through."

The Willow Foundation arranges special events for 16 to 40-year-olds who are seriously ill.

It helped Mr Biggs, 30, of Whitnash, organise his wedding and a holiday during his final months after he was diagnosed with cancer in 2006.

Mr Dhillon, of Radford Semele, was just 25 when he died from a blood clot in his lung in February last year.

Mr Hicks said: "I was best mates with Sunny for five years.

"He was never in a bad mood and always had a smile on his face.

"That's what I loved about him, he was such a genuinely nice lad.

"It is important not to forget about him, Simon, or the good times.

"That's why I raise money for a charity which helps lads their age."

Mr Hicks has taken part in similar fundraising activities in previous years.

In 2007 Mr Hicks competed 200 holes in a day and last year he played non-stop for 24 hours.

But this challenge will be his toughest yet.

He said: "It is an attempt more than anything - I'm a little bit worried about completing it.

"But I don't actually get to play games of golf at the moment because I'm so busy teaching or working in the club shop so it will be nice to get out there.

"The bigger the challenge the more people will be interested in supporting me for this good cause."

Sponsor forms are available at Radford Stores, in Lewis Road, Radford Semele, Vogue International in Tavistock Street, Leamington, or at the golf club shop at Newbold Comyn.
