Leamington man Chris Stacey believes he has an explanation for the recent UFO sightings in the skies above Warwick.
He saw several of the mysterious lights on August 29, the night Terry Hicks first reported seeing the objects.

The 49-year-old, of Telford Avenue, was visiting friends in Lillington for a barbecue and was looking towards Warwick when his eye was caught by a glowing object rising through the evening sky.

It rose and veered off to the left before vanishing. Twenty minutes later, three more rose from the same position, with two eerily staying the same distance from each other as they climbed.

He said: "At first all we could see was an orange glow. We could see planes flying above them but there was no noise.

"We had binoculars on them and at first it was just like a flickering light with what looked like a very thin dome around it."

Mr Stacey, a fitter at Dennis Eagle, believes they may be lanterns brought back from Thailand. The lightweight paper lamps have a candle underneath which warms the air inside, making them work like miniature hot-air balloons.

Nonetheless he was amazed at the way the lights moved across the sky. He said: "It was the speed they went up with. It would have to be a big candle to make them rise like that."
