A Leamington nursery has re-opened after a £49,000 makeover.

More space and a new garden area are among the improvements at Bath Place Community Venture, where work to refurbish and extend the childcare centre started in February.

With children now enjoying the rewards, manager Ali Irvine said: "It is more than we hoped for.

"The best thing about it is the new toilet area and the space for wet play. The children are very excited and really enjoyed exploring the new space."

The red and black brick extension opened on April 21 and invited visitors to see the finished results at a launch party on May 2.

It was built by Leamington company XLNT2 and includes new toilet and changing facilities as well as an outdoor area with plants, flowers and space to play.

There is also a wipe-clean area where children can play with water and take part in art tasks.

The nursery, which will become a self-sufficent business in the near future, has recently been given the go-ahead to provide all-day childcare for two to four-year-olds.

Venture manger Steve Baylis said: "It's a world of difference. We have got new facilities which are really up-to-date and for us it is an investment in providing quality childcare."

A further £40,000 has been spent refurbishing the kitchen and reception. Tired cooking facilities have been replaced and a larger preparation area built.

The improvements were funded by the county council, Leamington Round Table, Biffa-ward and the Tudor Trust.

Mr Baylis, who has been working at the centre for more than 18 months, hopes they will bring more people into Bath Place.
