A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a car which had come to rest on its roof.

“Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save the driver of the car and she was confirmed dead at the scene.

“Working closely with the fire service, crews carefully immobilised the passenger, a woman in her 80s, with the use of a spinal board and neck collar and she was cut free from the car.

“She was then taken to Warwick Hospital by land ambulance for further treatment to knee and back injuries.

“There were no other vehicles involved in the incident.”
