Warwick care home residents moved ahead of rebuild

Woodside care home on Spinney Hill, is operated by WCS Care, who are a Warwickshire-based charity operating 13 care homes across the county.

WCS Care have submitted plans to demolish the current care home buildings and to build a new state-of-the-art care home that can house 72 residents.

The 40 residents who were living at the home moved to WCS Care’s newest care home, Castle Brook, in Kenliworth last week.

Christine Asbury, WCS care’s chief executive, said: “We plan to create an inspirational new home on the existing Woodside site on Spinney Hill, subject to getting planning permission.

“While we’re still awaiting the outcome of our planning application, we’ve been talking to residents and their families about the proposed move for 18 months.

“They were keen to experience the fantastic facilities at WCS Care’s newest home in Kenilworth, and the decision was made – following months of planning and consultation – to relocate people from Woodside to Castle Brook as soon as possible.

“The move ensures that as many people as possible can enjoy Castle Brook’s household-style living and fantastic community facilities – including a relaxing spa, pamper salon, cinema, shop and iconic launderette – sooner than they otherwise would have.”

The plans received unanimous support from Warwick Town Council in January.

It is currently unknown when the plans will go to Warwick District Council.
