Warwick air cadets pick up Gold awards at Royal palace

Two young air cadets from Warwick have been presented with awards for achieving Gold Duke of Edinburgh awards at St James’ Palace in London.

Jack Savage and Johnathon Brown achieved their awards with 1368 (Warwick and Leamington) Air Training Corp Squadron.

Both young men worked tirelessly through the five sections of their Duke of Edinburgh programme over 14 months, taking part in activities including an expedition in Snowdonia, where they took part in canoeing, rock climbing, scrambling, sailing, swimming and horse riding. Their volunteering included supporting Napton Horse Show, Warwick Carnival, the British Legion poppy appeal and numerous parades.

Jack and Johnathon are also members of Leamington Cycling and Athletics Club. Both Jack - who is studying towards a level 3 engineering extended diploma - and Johnathon - who is studying a degree in degree in sports and exercise science - represent the Wing and Region in cross country, and Jack is Corp cross country champion.

They were presented with their awards by HRH the Earl of Wessex and their certificates by Carol Vorderman.
