Spate of burglaries across Warwickshire

In the last week there has been nine burglaries and one attempted burglary reported.

Some of the incidents also took place while residents were at home.

The first burglary (incident number 62 of February 3) happened between noon last Wednesday and 7am on Friday, where a home was broken into on Brownlow Street in Leamington.

Offenders forced open the roller door on a detached garage and stole two road cycles and three mountain bikes.

The second burglary (incident number 87 of February 3) took place at a home in Whitemoor Road in Kenilworth.

At sometime between 6.30m and 8.45am last Friday, offenders entered the driveway and then gained access to an insecure Nissan vehicle and stole a Vax carpet cleaner from inside.

They then entered the porch of the house and stole a Barbour jacket.

The third burglary also took place in Kenilworth (incident number 198 of February 3) between 10am and 1.20pm last Friday.

Offenders approached a large detached home on Warwick Road, and then forced the padlock off the gate into the rear garden.

When they were at the rear of the house, they broke in via the kitchen window.

Once they were then inside the house, the burglars disabled the intruder alarm and conducted an untidy search of the whole house before making off with items of gold jewellery, a quantity of cash and a set of car keys.

They then left the property through the rear patio doors.

The car was not stolen.

A second burglary (incident number 274 of February 5) took place on Brownlow Street in Leamington between 4pm last Friday and 9am last Saturday.

The offenders entered the rear garden of a home and forced the locks of the side door of a garage.

Once inside the garage, the offenders stole 2 push bikes.

During Friday night going into Saturday morning a rural business property was broken into in Southam.

Offenders entered the yard of the property, which was on Station Road, and gained access to several barns and outbuildings.

After entering an insecure barn and they stole three fuel cans and a hose before syphoning diesel from two vehicles in a nearby field.

They then attacked another vehicle at the premises.

The incident number for this burglary is 90 of February 7.

During Monday evening into Tuesday morning residents at a house in New Street in Leamington were burgled while they were sleeping.

The offenders entered an alleyway leading to the rear of terraced homes on the street and then climbed over a fence and into a garden to release the bolt on the gate.

They then broke open a ground floor window, and stole a large television with remote control and food items from the kitchen.

The incident number for this burglary is 28 of February 7.

Between the 6.45pm and 7.20pm on Tuesday there was an attempted burglary in Long Itchington (incident number 281 of February 7).

Residents at a home in Leigh Crescent noticed movement around a neighbour’s home and they went to investigate and called the police while standing near the property.

Three males then left the house through the front door and threatened the neighbours and chased one of them before making off in a vehicle which was parked nearby.

On investigation, it was discovered that the three men had forced open the front door and searched a bedroom before making off after being disturbed by the neighbours.

It is not known if anything was stolen.

On Tuesday at around 7pm two offenders entered the rear garden of a home on Scowcroft Drive in Bishops Itchington (incident number 274 of February 7).

They forced open the rear door to the house and searched two bedrooms before being disturbed by the resident of the house who told them to leave.

One offender replied to the resident that he wanted to go into the kitchen and was told to leave as the police were being called.

Both burglars left on foot and it was later discovered that a quantity of cash had been stolen.

Police continue to warn residents to be vigilant and to report any suspicious people or vehicles.
