National quality mark for Leamington gallery

LEAMINGTON’s Pump Room art gallery and museum has been awarded a quality mark in a national accreditation scheme in recognition of its high standards.

The Museums Accreditation Scheme, introduced by Arts Council England, assures local councils and other funding bodies that the museums they support are properly managed and assures donors to collections that exhibits are properly cared for and used for the public benefit.

Cllr Stephen Cross, responsible for managing policy on culture for Warwick District Council, which runs the gallery and museum, said: ”The gallery and museum is very popular and well run and this award shows that this is acknowledged across the entire museums sector. Accreditation is an important step towards demonstrating that it delivers excellent services that enrich the lives of residents and tourists.”
