Man killed after car hit tree on A46 near Kenilworth and Stoneleigh

Police are dealing with a fatal collision on the A46 at the Kenilworth and Stoneleigh junction.

A Kenilworth man in his 40s was killed after his BMW collided with a tree along the main road at around 5.05am on Friday (March 13).

Police were called to the scene after reports of a tree in the road. On arrival they found the fatal collision had occurred and the road was closed off.

The incident is causing tailbacks and long delays.

The northbound lanes remain very restricted but the southbound lanes are now open.

Paramedics and two ambulances from West Midlands Ambulance Service attended and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, crews discovered a car that had collided with a tree after leaving the road.

“There was one patient, a male driver of the vehicle, but sadly it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”

Warwickshire Police are tweeting updates about the incident.
