Man hit by train in Leamington

A man suffered serious leg injuries after being hit by a train in Leamington on Saturday morning.

The man - a wheelchair user according to eye witnesses- was airlifted to hospital after the incident, which caused trains to be delayed.

The incident occurred near to Leamington Station in Old Warwick Road, at around 7.20am.

Two West Midlands ambulances, a paramedic officer, the trust’s HART Team, a BASICS Doctor and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a man who had suffered serious leg injuries after being hit by a train.

“The man, believed to be in his mid-30s, received emergency treatment at the scene by medics and was airlifted to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further emergency treatment.

“The hospital had been alerted to the man’s injuries and his serious condition.”
