Warwickshire patients affected by hospital cancellations

“SIGNIFICANT winter pressures” has led to the University Hospital in Coventry cancelling some operations and appointments.

Non-emergency procedures and outpatient appointments will not be dealt with until next week.

The hospital trust has issued a statement to say it has seen a rise in the number of patients needing specialist treatment and has struggled to free up beds as a consequence. Those affected by the cancellations will be contacted by the hospital.

Anyone requiring non-emergency treatment is advised to visit their GP or a walk-in clinic or call NHS Direct on 0845 4647, instead of going to the hospital’s accident and emergency unit.

For further details and updates, call the hospital on 024 7696 4000 or go online.
