Town’s own radio station will launch soon

PLANS for Kenilworth’s local radio station have been put on hold until later this year.

Liane Dugal, who took on the task of re-launching Radio Abbey from The Kenilworth Centre in Abbey End, has withdrawn from the project, as the constraints of operating within a busy, multi-user community building have proved difficult to overcome.

She intends to look at other opportunities to launch a local community radio station for Kenilworth, based elsewhere.

Cllr John Whitehouse, chairman of trustees at The Kenilworth Centre, said: “The trustees and management of the centre are very grateful to Liane for the professionalism she has brought to the Radio Abbey project, and for her hard work and dedication over the past few months. We are sorry that things have not worked out as we all hoped, and we wish her well for the future.

“The Kenilworth Centre remains committed to the re-launch of Radio Abbey as a broadband radio station from Autumn.”
