The second HS2 forum is set to take place next week

THE second Stoneleigh, Kenilworth and Burton Green HS2 community forum will take place this week.

The meeting will be held at St Francis Parish Centre in Warwick Road tomorrow (Tuesday) from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

HS2 Ltd will report back on EIA Scope and Methodology Consultation, give an update on the property and safeguarding consultation and report on the work currently being carried out in the area.

As well as this local issues and concerns in Stoneleigh, Kenilworth, Crackley and Burton Green will be discussed.

Joe Rukin, chairman of the Kenilworth Stop HS2 action group, said: “We have to attend this meeting with a positive outlook but we expect very little from it considering our previous experience with HS2 Ltd.

“It is however our job to show them what is important about this area so a high speed line doesn’t destroy it.”

It is expected that many local groups and councillors will attend the meeting including the town’s MP Jeremy Wright, Burton Green Church of England Primary School, local HS2 action groups, residents associations and councils, Kenilworth Golf Club Ltd, the National Farmers Union, Warwick University and The Greenway Trust.

HS2 Ltd engineers, managers and advisors including head of consultation, community and stakeholder engagement Miranda Carter, and country north area manager David Sandercock will also be at the event.

The first forum was held in March this year and every group which attended made it clear that they were totally opposed to the very idea of HS2 and that by participating in the meeting they were in no way showing approval of it. The meeting elected Michael Coker, Kenilworth Abbey Conservative councillor, as chairman but he is acting in an independent capacity.
