Stun weapons seized in Wellesbourne

POLICE are warning parents to be wary of weapons being sold as toys after seizing two illegal hand-held stunning devices in Wellesbourne.

Both had been bought as toys and were seized from properties in the Wellesbourne area.

Sgt Richard Thomas said: “These are classed as prohibited weapons and it is a criminal offence to either sell, buy or possess one.

“They are not toys - they are designed to stun a person with a high voltage shock, and there is clearly a safety issue here for the person operating it and anyone it might be used on.”

Safer Neighbourhood Team is working with officers from Trading Standards to establish where devices are being sold, and would like to hear from anyone who has information which would help its investigation.
