Smoke in flats traced to bin

SMOKE in a Lillington block of flats this morning (Thursday August 23) was traced to a fire in a bin storage area.

Firefighters from around Warwickshire were send to Ashton Court shortly after 9am when smoke was seen on the sixth floor landing.

Crews found the source of the smoke was a dustbin storage area on the ground floor, from which smoke had percolated to the sixth, seventh and eighth floors of the building.

The fire was put out using a hose and ventilation fan.
