A POLICEMAN once known as the Sheriff of Warwick has retired after 30 years in the force.

Inspector Richard Woodcock, who has a passion for vintage cars, held his retirement party at the former police headquarters at Woodcote House in Leek Wootton. And he was delighted that his guest list included ex-Warwickshire Chief Constable Peter Joslin and ex-Assistant Chief Constable Jim Powell - two men who interviewed him for the force at the start of his long career.

It was another Chief Constable, John Burbeck, who used to refer to Richard as the Sheriff of Warwick.
