FALCONERS across the Midlands have been asked to keep their eyes on the skies, with Warwick Castle’s missing sea eagle Stan not seen for nine days.

Stan, a white tailed sea eagle who takes his name from his homeland of Kazakhstan, flew away during a falconry display on September 6 and was last seen at a farm in Badby, Northamptonshire.

Falconry groups have been alerted about the missing bird, which has so far flown with prevailing winds. Warwick Castle spokesman Adam Butcher said that the castle’s team were reluctant to travel unless they had a reliable sighting, with many members of the public mistaking smaller buzzards for the sea eagle, which has a wingspan of around 7ft.

Mr Butcher said the castle was still keen to follow up any reliable sighting, adding: “Stan is a very cherished bird.”

Anyone who does see Stan should call the Castle on 495421.
