Road closure set for next month

MOTORISTS who regularly travel between Leamington town centre and Kenilworth will be faced with five days of disruption and possible delays next month.

A 1.7km stretch of the A452 Kenilworth Road between the roundabout at the Ramada Hotel and the roundabout at the Nuffield Hospital will be closed from Monday August 13 to Friday August 17.

West Midlands Gas Alliance, a partnership between National Grid and contractor Morgan Sindall, will be carrying out repairs to a gas main trench which was created under the road two-and-a-half years ago and has started to sink.

Lee Allsop, construction manager for the Gas Alliance, said: “We didn’t want to shut the road straight away because we wanted to carry out the work during the school holidays to minimise disruption.

“We have put up advance warning signs and have started with a good basis of information for people.

“It will just be remedial work on the carriageway. We wanted to do it all in one go rather than in sections.”
