New trade park will give a big boost to community jobs club

A COMMUNITY jobs club in Leamington is set to benefit from the creation of a new £5 million trade park in the town.
Work has started on the new park for Travis Perkins at Queensway, and it is expected to open later this year creating around 30 new jobs.
As part of the planning application, the developers Deeley Group are supporting the Brunswick Job Club which is based in the Brunswick Healthy Living Centre (BHLC), which provides local people with help and advice in finding work and is fully supported by district and town councillor Alan Wilkinson (Lab, Leamington Brunswick) who is also a Trustee and volunteer at BHLC.
Cllr Michael Doody (Con, Radford Semele), leader of Warwick District Council, said: “This support would be a massive boost to the centre.
“The job club offers a great service and provides local people with free access to a wide range of information to help them in their search for jobs.
“There is a full-time job advisor available who will give support while training on subjects such as CV writing and interview techniques.
“It is always good news when employment is created, but this support will also indirectly help people find jobs in the local area.”
Deeley Group is also building a major scheme for Orbit Homes at Queensway, while an Aldi supermarket is being created on the next door site.
Pat Moroney, of the Deeley Group, said: “The schemes at Queensway will create jobs both in their construction and long-term operation, which is very positive.
“We have always been a company that has worked very closely with communities in which we operate and are glad that the district council will use this support to help local people.”
As part of the project, a pedestrian and cycle path will be constructed linking Tachbrook Park Drive and Queensway.
● The scheme, on a 2.8 acre site, will be housed in two buildings with a dedicated yard and parking areas, all accessible from Tachbrook Park Drive.
The land has been unused since engineering firm AL-KO Kober relocated to Southam.
