Mobile phone thief knocked man unconscious in Leamington robbery

A 28-year-old man was knocked unconscious in a mobile phone robbery in Leamington early today (Friday August 24).

The victim is believed to have been with friends in Tavistock Street between 1.30am and 3.20am when he was approached by a man who asked for his phone.

When he refused to hand it over, the man became aggressive and punched him to the ground.

The victim was taken to the accident and emergency department at Warwick Hospital with swelling to his head and suspected concussion. He was later released after treatment.

Police investigating the incident are appealing for anyone who witnessed the attack to come forward, especially anyone with information about a man wearing a white or grey hooded top, who is believed to be the thief.
