KENILWORTH’S Love your Market day has been hailed a great success and plans are now in place to make it an annual event.

The National Market Day, which took place last Thursday in the town, attracted new market traders selling a variety of goods including home-made cupcakes, vintage tea and home crafts.

Zoe Court, Kenilworth’s new town centre manager, said: “It was great to see some new stalls showcasing local entrepreneurs.

“One stall which stood out for me was a cupcake business, The Gingernut Bakery , which had the motto ‘Keep Calm - Eat Cake’.

“The event was so successful I think we will run it every year.

“Warwick District Council and Sketts, the council’s market provider, gave out limited edition reusable shopping bags, promoting ‘Love Kenilworth – Shop Local’ and many shoppers received some of these.

“Taking the time to walk around all the stalls with the mayor Cllr George Illingworth, the district council chair Cllr Michael Kinson and vice chair Cllr Richard Davies, I was reminded how good this market really is for weekly shopping.

“I am very passionate about shopping local, and this includes the market.”
