INDEPENDENTS’ Day was embraced by shopkeepers and craft-makers in Kenilworth this week.

Kenilworth Town Centre management and Kenilworth Chamber of Trade worked together to “fly the flag” for independent retailers in the town who gave away goody bags, free glasses of wine and gifts all day on Wednesday.

Town mayor Cllr George Illingworth visited all the shopkeepers with town centre manager Zoe Court, the chamber of trade gave advice and the handmade craft fair allowed new groups to showcase their work. Kenilworth Town Council also provided free parking all day. Mrs Court said: “The weather wasn’t the best for this event, but I think it went really well especially since it was the first year.”
