Fireworks displays in south Warwickshire

REMEMBER, remember - as if we could forget - Guy Fawkes’ Night will soon be upon us and there are plenty of displays lighting up the skies across south Warwickshire to mark the occasion.
The big event in Leamington is taking place on the night itself - Monday November 5 - at Leamington Rugby Football Club at Moorefields in Kenilworth Road. Gates open at 6pm and the bonfire will be lit at 7pm, followed by the fireworks display at 7.30pm. There will be a funfair, a Guy competition for children, a DJ, food and a bar.
Tickets, which are being sold on the gate only, cost £10 per car, £5 per pedestrian and are free for children aged under 12.
Warwick Racecourse in Hampton Street is hosting Warwick’s event, which takes place tomorrow (Saturday). Gates open at 5pm and the bonfire lighting and fireworks display will start at 6.30pm.
Organisers say that this year there are more fireworks - and there will be a children’s fun area with bouncy castles, as well as hot refreshments - and parking is free.
The event is being organised by the Warwick Lions, Warwick Round Table and Warwick Rotary Club, who are donating proceeds to local charities and causes. The main sponsors are the New Bowling Green pub in Warwick and Warringtons of Warwick.
Tickets cost £4 in advance or £5 on the gate, while under-12s can obtain free entry if they obtain tickets in advance or £1 tickets on the gate, and infants aged two and under get free entry in all circumstances.
Tickets are available from Warwick and Leamington tourist information centres, Claridges of Warwick, Mellors, Cabin News, Warwick and Woodloes post offices, Warwick Vacuum Shop and the Coffee Lounge in Chase Meadow.
The popular display at Kenilworth Castle, organised by Kenilworth Round Table, returns tomorrow, with 30 minutes of fireworks, as well as a live DJ roadshow by Free Radio and a food court.
Gates open at 5.30pm and the last entry is at 6.45pm. The castle car park will be reserved for disabled badge holders only. Public parking is available at Abbey End, Square West and Abbey Fields.
The event is being supported by Waitrose, Free Radio, the Almanack, English Heritage, Coventry Building Society, Jaguar Land Rover and the Queen and Castle in Kenilworth and proceeds will be donated to local charities and causes.
Entry costs £7 in advance or £10 on the gate, £3 in advance and £5 on the gate for children aged 13 and under and free for infants aged two and under.
Tickets are available from Waitrose in Kenilworth, Coventry Building Society branches, Kenilworth Castle shop, Bakers Dozen, Becks Butchers and the Almanack in Kenilworth.
Southam Lions are hosting their annual fireworks and bonfire at Southam Cricket Club at the Old Road Ground in Leamington Road tomorrow. The bonfire will be lit at 7pm and the display begins at 7.30pm and throughout the evening there will be hot food and hot drinks available and a bar.
Entry costs £7 for a family of up to four, £3 for adults and £2 for children, with proceeds going to the food bank organised by Bromford Housing and Stratford District Council.
Whitnash people can head to St Josephs Primary School next Friday (November 9), where Celebration Fireworks will bring a professional display to the school field. There will be two firings - at 7.15pm and 7.45pm - as well as a fairground, go-karts, barbecue and bar. Family tickets, for two adults and three children, cost £10, while adult entry costs £3 and tickets for under-16s cost £2. They can be bought at the school in advance or on the night. Proceeds will go towards paying for new resources at the school.
