Donations will help save Ellie the HS2 elephant
AN URGENT appeal to save Ellie the inflatable HS2 elephant ‘in the room’ has been launched by the Stop HS2 campaign.
After packing up her trunk and making more than 100 appearances over the past year, the elephant is now damaged beyond repair and, with campaign funds being near exhaustion, will not be able to be replaced unless donations are forthcoming.
The majority of funds for the campaign come from small contributions from individuals and community fundraising by action groups holding events such as quiz nights, wine tasting and raffles.
Stop HS2 campaign coordinator Joe Rukin said: “We know that when stage two is announced there will be a colossal amount of work which we have planned for, but we need to be able to deliver and make the most of the opportunity to double the size of the campaign when it comes. The sad reality is that we will not be able to do this without funding.”
To donate, send a cheque payable to ‘Stop HS2 to Stop HS2’ to Roger Waller, The Outlook, Dunsmore, Wendover, Bucks HP22 6QJ.
