Community and pubs are winners at Harbury beer festival

Waiting for Video...

REAL ale lovers sank their way through more than 60 beers at a nautical-themed Harbury Beer Festival at the weekend.

The festival marked the centenary of the Titanic’s doomed maiden voyage with beers with maritime names.

Kenilworth and Southam MP Jeremy Wright was among judges for West Midland 2012 Champion Strong Bitter with his favourite, Salopian Golden Thread, the victor.

Praising Camra’s for keeping real ale and pubs alive, he said: “It’s always nice to pick a winner, but the real winner here is the community. The Harbury Beer Festival is a great event. It attracts hundreds of visitors, promotes quality beers from across the country, and particularly from Warwickshire’s 13 breweries, and is an event all the family can enjoy.”
