Child knocked off bicycle by car

A 12-YEAR-OLD boy was left badly bruised after being knocked off his bicycle by a car on Wednesday while cycling to school.

The Kenilworth School pupil was taken to Warwick Hospital with minor injuries after a black A4 Quattro Sport came into contact with him at the Windy Arbour and Leyes Lane turning, at around 8.30am. The road was partially closed until around 11am while police and ambulance services dealt with the incident.

Hayden Abbott, headteacher at Kenilworth School in Leyes Lane, said: “Staff and pupils at were very worried when they heard about what happened.

“The news of the pupil’s condition on Wednesday afternoon however was very reassuring.

“It had become clear pretty quickly that he was badly bruised, but had no serious injuries. This is a great relief to everybody at the school.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call Warwickshire Police on 415415.
