Nigel Murray and his teammates have shaken off the disappoinment of yesterday’s semi-final defeat to take bronze in the Paralympics boccia tournament.

The Whitnash boccia star and fellow team members Dan Bentley, David Smith and Zoe Robinson beat Portugal 7-5 in their bronze medal match in the Mixed Team - BC1-2 event this morning (Tuesday).

They bounced back from their crushing 18-1 loss to Thaliand, responding to Murray’s call to “refocus” and Bentley’s rallying cry to “come out fighting”.

Murray, ranked numer one in the world in the BC2 category, now has four paralympic medals to his name including two golds, a silver and today’s bronze.

He plans to reitre from the sport at the end of the Games.
