Priory Road’s brand new crossing is almost in place to help children cross safely outside St Nicholas School.

Warwickshire County Council workers have now painted the large white stripes in the hope of improving safety for all pedestrians.

But the location of the zebra crossing means the loss of two parking spaces along the road in what business owners feared could spell the end for passing trade.

It now remains to be seen if the loss of parking will have any impact on the handful of businesses which rely on people stopping outside the shops.

The crossing is around 85 metres back from the Abbey End junction and councillors assured that this was ‘regrettably the only suitable spot’.
