A woman was cut from her car and rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a three-car collision outside Stoneleigh on Wednesday.
A man was also taken to Warwick Hospital with minor injuries following the incident on the southbound carriageway of the A46 just past the turning for Stoneleigh and Warwick University.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward and help with inquiries.
Three vehicles were involved when a red Mitsubishi Carisma, a black coloured London Taxi and a silver Renault Laguna collided just after 8pm on Wednesday October 16.
A number of other vehicles came to a halt immediately behind the collision, giving the appearance of a much larger incident.
The southbound carriageway of the A46 was closed to traffic from the Festival Island at Coventry, fully re-opening at 4am on Thursday morning.
The female driver of the Mitsubishi Carisma suffered serious injuries and was taken to the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire. She is believed to be in her mid-40s.
The male driver of the Renault Laguna suffered minor injuries and was treated at Warwick Hospital.
The driver of the third vehicle was not injured.
Police want to hear from anyone who was travelling in either direction on the A46 between Coventry and Leamington at the time who may have seen the vehicles.
