Spring was well and truly in the air at Wellesbourne village hall when it was filled with delightful displays of beautiful flowers, plants and homemade produce for Wellesbourne and Walton Horticultural Society’s annual spring show on April 12.
Twenty-nine exhibitors displayed 140 entries in all categories, which included floral art, cookery, children’s classes and Easter bonnets.
Judges selected the following exhibitors as winners: Pauline Wilson-Gunn (Challenge Cup), Marion Allerton (Oldham Cup for floral art), Sue Kyrke (Granville Cup for cookery), Elena Aiello (Ken Wheeler Trophy for the children’s classes, Pat Harris (Certificate of Merit for floral art) and Bruce Watson (Diploma, ‘Tug o’ War’ Cup and the ‘People’s Choice’ award for his flowering pot plant).
Carol Evered of the society’s committee said: “The committee would like to congratulate all the worthy winners, as well all the exhibitors and judges for their support in helping us to maintain this traditional village event for everyone to enjoy.”
The society’s next event will be a plant sale outside Wellesbourne Methodist Church on Saturday May 17 from 10am to 1pm.
