Replicas of historic weapons and armour were stolen from a Warwickshire pub in a burglary last week.

Thieves broke into a container situated to the side and rear of the Castle Inn, in Edgehill, sometime overnight between the evening of Thursday 9 and Friday 10 January and stole items including two metal rifles and a flint lock rifle, a support spike, a pike and spear, a pikeman’s helmet, 2 brass Saxon axes and a metal breast plate.

The items were used to decorate the pub, which overlooks the battlefield of the first major battle of the English Civil War.

Police officers investigating the burglary have made house to house enquiries and are appealing for witnesses to please contact the Warwickshire Police Crimedesk on 101 or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org
